Largo della Salara Vecchia 5/6, 00186 Rome Italy
Located at the foot of Palatine Hill, the Forum is surrounded by ruins of Rome's most important government buildings. It's usually visited alongside the famous Colosseum.
The Forum was originally covered by a swamp. It was only in the late 7th century BCE that the valley was reclaimed and the Roman Forum began to take shape. It was destined to remain the centre of public life for over a millennium.

Amazing sights! A long walk, especially after walking the whole Colosseum, but deffinitely worth it!

Not as good as it used to be when it was free!
★★☆☆☆
It’s an amazing site but lack of information on the location of specific super sites was so frustrating. There are maps but they’re all worn so that it’s impossible to tell what is where. In the heat it’s very difficult to navigate the site. We missed many areas of interest. Staff are also very poorly informed and can’t direct, sign posts are far too infrequent and useless. The website notifications are incorrect, during our visit we discovered super sites were closed that were marked as open on the site. It was much better when it was free pre 2008. The site at that time allowed for free movement and felt vast with an air of ancient history…this visit felt very poorly managed and maintained despite the cash they’re not raking in.
