Colosseum Arena - Walk Where Gladiators Fought

Arena access puts you on the reconstructed floor of the Colosseum, but it sells out quickly and uses a separate entrance.

Standing on the arena floor is an entirely different experience from peering down from the stands. The Arena 24-hour ticket gives you access through the Stern Entrance (also called the Gladiator’s Gate). Visitors enter directly onto the wooden platform, spend about 20 minutes absorbing the view and imagining the roar of 50,000 Romans, then exit the same gate.

Because arena access is limited, tickets sell fast. To secure your spot:

  1. Book the right ticket: Choose the Arena option when purchasing - standard tickets do not include the floor.
  2. Arrive early: Even with a timed ticket you’ll go through security; plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your slot.
  3. Use a guide: Our tours include access to the arena floor plus insights into gladiator training, trapdoors and the underground hypogeum.
Arena access is worth choosing if you want the Colosseum to feel less distant. Book the arena option specifically, and check that your confirmation names the arena floor before you arrive.
