It's really hard to describe how amazing it is to walk down such an ancient and historically important road. We started a little too late in the afternoon and our cab dropped us off at the aurelian wall so we didn't make it to the Mosuleum of Pompey like I had hoped but was still a memorable experience. Would have liked it if the villa of maxentius was open but maybe that project will be completed by my next trip to Rome.

We rented bikes from EcoBike. We decided to go with traditional bikes not e-bikes. The Appian Way provides beautiful scenery for biking but the ride is rather bumpy. There are plenty of opportunities to hop off your bikes and read the historical signage along the way.
