Piazza di Spagna, 00187 Rome Italy
Located in the heart of Rome, this vibrant and elegant square is surrounded by 18th-century buildings augmented by the colorful flowers that adorn the Spanish Steps. The elegant steps by Francesco de Sanctis (1723-1726) consist of twelve flights of varying width, which descend to the scenic Franciscan Church of Trinita dei Monti.

Romantic and Vibrant
★★★★★
The place is romantic and vibrant with the people around. The steps are picturesque, and the surroundings include amazing food and snack options, so this is an attraction and a break spot as well. There are no admission fees there, and this is one of the must-see places of Rome.

On the 'must see' short list
★★★★★
There are many iconic sights on Rome, world famous through an untold amount of photos in circulation. The Spanish Steps is one of them. When you see a picture of the Spanish Steps, you recognize it immediately as a Rome picture, just like the Colosseum. I can highly recommend a visit to see the Spanish Steps in real life, but I advise you to approach the Spanish Steps from the top, at the Trinità dei Monte church (also worth a visit) and navigate the Steps downwards, because the elevator is mostly out of order ('guasto' in good Italian.
